Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Calcutta High Court has demanded a report from the state government within the next two days regarding the recent attack on Union Minister Nishith Pramanik's car. A PIL was filed by the State Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, who has alleged that the attack on the convoy was pre-planned and instigated by a Trinamool MLA, Udayan Guha.
The court has directed the state to provide a report on this matter and produce the case diary by Friday, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for next week.
The attack on Nishith Pramanik's convoy resulted in damage to his car and windshield, and BJP workers were allegedly attacked with sticks. Suvendu Adhikari's lawyer has requested the High Court to deploy central forces in the Burirhat area of Dinhata, as the state police failed to handle the situation.
The lawyer has also suggested a CBI preliminary inquiry into the incident, as the local police station did not accept the FIR filed by the CISF after the attack. Around 40 BJP workers have been arrested, and concerns are being raised about the Union Minister's security.
